SPARK’s adventures in Halifax

The AFMNet conference in Halifax did not disappoint. We got the chance to meet and mingle with professors, grad students and industry professionals. Some of the highlights from our trip include geocaching, a high-tech scavenger hunt using GPS, where we were split up into various team and had to make our way around the city of Halifax in search of tiny film canisters. We followed the geocaching up with a harbour dinner cruise. Although the weather was not the best, we made the most of it.

Now that we are back in the office the work begins. We will be writing articles and organizing photoshoots. A few articles to keep a look for cover topics such as the creation of a new fish peptide based food for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes, the traceability and authenticity of foods from analytical and consumer perspectives and also determing the efficacy and substantiation of health claims.
